DAB In The UK... |
|
Reported on 2 May, a total of 3 million DAB digital radios have been sold in the UK. According to the DRDB (Digital Radio Development Bureau), it took 5 years for DAB set sales to reach the first million, 9 months to reach the second million, and 5 months to top 3 million. DRDB predicted that the number could hit 4.7 million by year-end, citing interest in the FIFA World Cup as a driving cause. Currently, more than 11% of the UK´s population lives in a DAB household and that 14% of radios sold in the UK are DAB. Sales of DAB digital radio have overtaken analog in some categories, particularly the portable/kitchen radio market.

| Why DAB? |
|
No hiss and crackle
Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB) technology reduces the likelihood of interference putting an end to constant hiss, crackle and fading. DAB listeners within the coverage area can enjoy Cool, Clear Digital sound from their digital radio.
More choices
Besides your analogue favourites, Digital Radio brings you six exclusive DAB-only stations. Whether you're looking for nonstop dance hits from techno to trance, English oldies, easy listening jazz, Chinese classics, Japan & Korean pop, gyrating Indian hits or financial news, you're sure to find something that suits you.
Tuning in a breeze
With DAB digital radio, all you need is simply to remember a station's name. DAB digital radios let you select the station by name, making it quick and easy to tune in whatever you want to listen to.
What's that song?
Stations broadcast useful information, including song title and artist's name, which appears as scrolling text on the radio's display screen. This means that whilst listening to the programme in digital quality audio, you can at the same time read about traffic conditions, road situations, headline news and many more.
