- It's Not Just About Digital Quality Audio |

DAB is not only a new digital broadcasting system
for high quality digital audio. It also opens up opportunities
for completely new services. All DigitalRadio digital
services are accompanied with data services that include
texts, pictures, and graphics allowing us to enhance
our listeners' experience with their DAB receivers.
Data services which are closely linked to an audio
service are referred to as PAD (program-associated
data). The most commonly used application of PAD is
DLS (Dynamic Label Segment) that appears as scrolling
text on the front LCD display of a DAB radio. Most
DAB receivers currently support English/EBU-Latin
based characters; however, it is possible for
the receivers to support Chinese characters in the
near future. Typical applications for DLS message
are the title and artist name of music currently played,
news flashes and headlines, and even advertisements
.

the world's first "four-in-one" module capable
or receiving Internet radio, DAB, FM and music
streamed from a PC. The new module, Venice
6, is the first product to integrate a WiFi,
DAB, and FM front-end together with an on-board
WiFi antenna in a single module. It enables
audio manufacturers to easily produce low-cost,
feature-rich, radios for the global market,
bringing thousands of Internet radio stations
and music streaming to a new generation of
